Types of Grants from Glide Foundation

Regular Grants

Only the following service purposes, listed in priority order, may get grants:

• To other land and wildlife conservancy groups.

Major Grants 

The purpose of the Foundation’s Major Grants program is to offer a way to address agency capital needs that are so large and complex that they cannot be satisfied by a single Regular Grant or a series of them.

Goals: To support a new service, a sustainable extension of an existing service, the replacement or recovery of a failing capital asset, or to significantly contribute to a tangible and enduring capital requirement (a useful life of at least five years with reasonable care).

Eligibility Criteria of Glide Foundation Grant

Grants from discretionary sources will be given consideration to people who satisfies the following requirements:

1. The organization may not have received a Major Grant from the Foundation during the last three years, unless there are exceptional circumstances that are determined entirely at the discretion of the Trustees.
2. Only tax-exempt organizations may receive grants under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) or 170(c) (the “Code”). None under Section 509(a) of the Code may be provided to Private Foundations.
3. The Foundation Guidelines for Regular Grants’ priorities must be supported by at least 50% of the organization’s services.
4. There will be grants available for the purchase of capital asset items.
5. Typically, a grant application requires an organization to have been in operation for a minimum of two years and to have established a track record of providing successful service.

Ineligibility Of Glide Foundation Grant

The Foundation will not provide grants from discretionary money to:

1. Institutions of general education or sectarian religious groups, regardless of hierarchy. However, this does not mean that requests from religious organizations and educational institutions cannot be taken into account.
2. Costs spent when providing program services.
3. Direct assistance for scholarships or to individuals
4. Influencing elections or laws.
5. Organizations or programs that are primarily sports-related..
6. Support for running costs: interest payments, general overhead, taxes, and administrative expenses; debt retirement; or costs associated with already-purchased or-implemented capital goods.

Funding Information of Glide Foundation Grants

1. Regular Grants are normally limited to $20,000.00.
2. Major Grants are limited to a maximum of $50,000.00.
